Welcome to the Itty Bitty Xmas Sale! These tiny ornaments are all one of a kind. The balls and top shaped ornaments are fashioned after vintage ornaments and have a silver “opening” up top just like your standard ornament, which is mimicked by encased fine silver foil. The trees are particularly dandy, too! Hang them on your tree or around your neck, they’re pretty much ready for any sort of action, capped with sterling silver disks and domes and finished with a wire-wrapped loop. Just like the box marked XMAS in faded marker as you’re dragging it down from the attic, the ones containing loose glitter may shed a few sparkles over time. But the icicle style tinsel shall remain forever, in true xmas form. Do not submerge in liquid, pretty please. Fogging and discoloration can occur.

Thanks for coming and Happy/Merry/Copasetic Inoffensiveness.

WHEN: Monday November 28th, 7PM Central Time
WHERE: in my online shop
WHAT: 10 (OOAK) itty bitty xmas ornaments, $40 each, stuffed with stuff and made into pendants. I hope to have a strand of something else that is interesting, but we’ll see how that goes
ALSO: There will be a blog post notification for my email subscribers when the shop is updated, but if you’re very interested in this sale and don’t check your email regularly, I suggest setting an alarm. Whenever I have remembered to set an alarm in the first place, it has saved my bacon, especially for stuff I don’t give a rat’s patoot about, like paying bills

Hey everybody! It’s that time again. Remember how last year was the first time I had something that resembled a Christmas themed sale? I’m doing that again, and once again with shortish notice. Sprinkles emphatically reassured me that it was the opposite of a bad idea to have a sale on the Monday after Thanksgiving. Sprinkles is usually right, save for that thing about always confusing Mick Jagger with the Aerosmith guy. It’s an easy mistake to make, as both are caricatures of giant mouths choking on microphones and all that other mega-rockstar what-not that requires no further illustration from my quill. I just hate clogging up the internet with my (in my opinion) ill-planned shenanigans, but I do it all the time, all year long, so whatever. I had a really great idea for a group picture of all of them today for this post, to hang them on one of my beloved ceramic xmas trees, but as usual, I didn’t have my act together. Maybe I’m delusional to think I ever do have my act together. Especially during the holidays. So instead I photographed them with a different Christmas staple: Tupperware. Anyway, there is a tiny chance I may never do this again, but there is just as tiny of a chance that I’ll do it up bigger and better next year! Either way, I hope to see you Monday!

the sale date has been determined

It’s happening Monday, November 7th 2022 at 7PM Central Time in my online shop! Here’s a gander at what glassy goodnesses will be available:

…and maybe a couple of other things if I can get my act together. I’d love to see you there! Thanks for checking in.

Before anything else, I want to thank everyone for a great turnout at the sale last time! There are still a couple of things left, and a few from previous sales, but even more good stuff is coming in the next week or so, and I will announce the date once I know when it will be.

Other good things have happened or are in the works. The most notable is that my Reichenbach Raspberry Opal (104coe) glass was finally… FINALLY!.. restocked at OCR. I almost missed the restock notification because it went into my spam, just like every other important thing that week, but I found it the next day, thank goodness. The Lilac 104 was restocked earlier this year after months of waiting for it, but I’ve literally been waiting over a year for the Raspberry, and it’s one of my most important staple colors. I didn’t realize how much I relied on it until I got several orders for beads containing it, only to find I had just a few stubs left… but at one point lucked into finding a full sized rod hidden amongst the other Reichenbach colors I have, just in the nick of time. I could not complete the other orders, unfortunately. And this new batch is buttery as all get-out! I also nabbed a rod of Gaffer while I was at it, and by rod I mean baseball bat. I wasn’t sure how big it would actually be, but it was larger than expected. Some of you may remember how Gaffer used to pull “lampwork sized” rods and they quit doing it about 10 years ago and us bead makers were quite sad about it, but this is one of my favorite colors and I’m not sure what I’m going to do. I can either break it down into smaller chunks (I’m unsure how to approach that without creating waste) or find a local glass blower with a furnace who might be willing to pull it into thinner cane for me. But the 104 Raspberry is the big excitement, and I’m so happy to have it and I ordered enough to last me a little while. As you might have suspected, it has ended up in several of the beads I will be offering this go-round.

Speaking of pink, there is more news that is likely of no interest to anyone but myself, but several weeks ago I visited almost every Hobby Lobby in the metro to collect about 12 vials (on sale for 1/2 price that week) of my precious hot pink lined crystal size 8/0 czech seed beads, enough to nearly fill up the cute bulbous jar I’ve been keeping them in. I had used a surprising number of them in several bead crochet projects, and once I noticed I was running low I felt panic creep around my edges. So off I went. The panic truly took hold once I noticed that the ones on the shelf at the first HL I visited were a slightly different shade of pink than what I had, so it was then that I decided I needed to visit another, and another, and another until I had racked up about 5 visits in just 3 hours. Some of them were definitely different, but I was able to find mostly the older batch and some were only slightly different, and that is fine because czech color lining with a little variation is charming anyway.

Several weeks ago, 2 Goodwill stores on my circuit had removed all jewelry from the display cases. I asked them why, and they said they were starting to sell it exclusively online. I politely expressed my disdain. That’s one more reason for me to avoid shopping at goodwill (the already existing reasons are their already high prices and asking me to round up to the next dollar at the register) and I’m definitely not about to start doing my thrifting online. BUT. When I stopped in at one last week, the jewelry was back out in the display, so I guess enough people complained about it to make an impact. And one of my very favorite long-standing thrift stores closed early last summer with the promise of reopening in a new location – they had been at this location for at least 30 years – and provided the new address, even. But the way these things normally go, I was doubtful it would ever happen. But it did! We stopped by the new address a couple of weeks ago and they had an opening date posted on the door that was only a few days away. So we checked it out after the opening and it was great, and even better, it’s practically around the corner from my other favorite. Prices were still the same, plenty of jewelry, the staff was extra nice, it was clean and tidy and I found a watch face that reminded me of my grandpa’s. For $5, it was worth the risk of finding out if it doesn’t work with a new battery.

So there you have it, the long-ago promised update on the exciting last few weeks that weren’t really all that exciting, and that’s the best news of all. Thanks for checking in. You’ll be hearing from me again very soon, within the next few days, with a quick note regarding the date of the next sale, and maybe a peek at what will be available. Talk to you then!
