Since we last visited, which was quite a while ago, I have gotten a divorce and moved my massive stacks of trinkets, tools and sentimentally valuable furniture. In the midst of all of that, a devastating early autumn ice storm happened, and then a few months later came a blizzard and record low temperatures. Yet, my beloved live-forevers survived the weather after looking pretty dead for several weeks, and I suppose the same could be said for me. That, and the spiritual, emotional and physical upheaval of my entire existence. This has not been easy. As many of you have likely experienced your own selves, this is when you find out who your friends are. In some cases you’re surprised, and in others, you knew what to expect all along.
And we all said 2021 couldn’t possibly be worse than 2020. I knew better. But I don’t know. I guess it depends on how you look at it. I have found new love in a self-described cynical optimist. He’s also a Cancer, which is new for me, and according to all of astrology is the perfect match for me. I’m not sure what to think of him 75% of the time, but when my suspicious, defeatist stink-eye is about to become a burning stench, he always pulls the chestnuts out of the fire at just the right moment. I was going to toss the seemingly unsolvable Rubix cube I’ve had since childhood, but he talked me out of it. He took it apart (I didn’t know you could even do that) and put it back together solved, and said in a sentimental tone, “That’s what you have to do sometimes.”
I have been neglecting my business and certain responsibilities to myself long enough. I was in a dark place for a long time, which you could probably sense from my entries from the last several years. For the first time in a long time, I feel more confident in who I truly am. I am so ready to get back to work. Unfortunately, my work area is not ready yet, but I’m working hard on it and it will get there. One thing I have discovered about myself is that I am at my happiest when I am being productive and I will move mountains of furniture to get to a box that contains loose pearls waiting to be strung. I need to be creative, and I need to be at peace with myself and those around me. When I need something, I tend to make it happen.
I have a few things made, which I will be listing for sale soon, I just need to clear some space for taking photos. Meanwhile, I still have a small handful of things available in my shop, in case you missed them last year. I’ll be adding more in the next bit, and I’ll let you know here what my plans are. One thing I’m seriously considering is working with resin, which I’ve been wanting to do for years. If you guys have any input or suggestions for your favorite supplies/suppliers, I’d love to hear from you.
