there’s Happiness, and then…

February 7, 2011 by zbeads

…there’s Bead Happiness. There’s marital bliss, there’s financial security, and of course, fuzzy kittens. That’s all great, but Czech firepolished glass deserves its own classification of sheer, unmitigated joy. The cobalt’est cobalts, the facet’est olive greens, the opal’est browns. By the by, have you seen the Shipwreck Beads catalogue? It has a panoramic photo of their retail store that spans the front and back covers. By the looks of things, I would die of overstimulation the very moment I came through the door.

I’ve been on a murrine cane and silver glass binge all weekend. Today I will (attempt to) bring that to an end, finish up my orders this week, and go back to doing whatever the heck I want. I have fancy plans for !BLING! beads, Raindrops, Fronds, jewelry even – but lately, I’ve been struggling with color. I don’t want to bore you guys with the same colors all the time. I try to keep color trends in mind while adding my own two cents, but all too often, I find myself saying frig it, I’m in the mood for ORANGE. Nobody likes orange, but who cares, right? (Luckily for me, people actually DO like orange, and more often than not, it’s the first thing to go.)

The last 12 inches of snow is mostly melted, and hey, just in time for about 10 more! Fantastic. I’m planning my Etsy listings around my ability to get to the post office, and I’m hoping that on Wednesday (that’s the day of only 9 degrees and all of that snow) I’ll get some stuff listed. Then with Thursday’s sun and Friday’s high temperature, Friday and/or Saturday looks good for shipping. Well, as of today. A couple of years ago the weather folks predicted a blizzard the following day, and we got absolutely nothing in OKC. The weather man demonstrated how the precipitation completely bypassed the metro area with the assistance of a doughnut and a sheepish grin. Or maybe it was a bagel. Either way.

Off to work with me… thanks for reading!

I agree about the Czech glass! I LOVE orange(and all bright colors :D ). I hear ya on the weather front too. I was cramming all I could into my lampworking session today ’cause tomorrow it will be to f*ing cold, and then the SNOW. Maybe this puts our beads in more demand since we can only make them on “warm” days? ;)

Wouldn’t that be great if it were true…

Back to the torch tomorrow! Looking forward to it… I guess I’ll be packing up beads tonight. Yay. My least favorite thing.

:) Yay! At least it should be “warmer” tomorrow.
Really? I love doing all that kind of stuff. I could come pack them up for you. You are on your own for waiting in line for the post office though ;)
